The Plotz Retrospective, Retrospectively

The museum opening is over and I must say that I'm kinda glad! Sure, it was fun planning the show and deciding what pages/images to highlight, but it was also nerve wracking and anxiety producing. So on that note, let me take this time right now to apologize to anyone who didn't receive a announcement/invitation in the mail. I gave my list to the ladies in the synagogue office, only practically no one got an announcement card! (Including my mother-in-law -- try explaining that one.) It bummed me out a lot since I invited old friends, work buddies and lots of press people. I'm not pointing any fingers here (however, if you email me I'll give you my theory.) I learned something. Mainly, to keep the DIY spirit, even if it means mailing out the cards myself. So, hang on, everybody. You will get yours. Luckily the show is up til August, so maybe some of ya'll can catch it if you're in Philly.

But yeah. More about the opening. There were blown-up images of Plotz covers, a glass case that housed Plotz-a-bilia (containing some of my treasured prison mail and the barrette that says JEW on it, sent by a "fan"), a random child handing out used cheese to people, and even a guy I knew from college who arrived wearing full make-up. It was quite the night. We also sold a bunch of zines and posters (which ahem, are still for sale). Don't you want one? Please want one. We printed so many of them... At any rate, it was nice and even got me a little, well, you know, farklempt. So sue me.
